As part of our seamless care  provision, we place priority on the motivation, mobility and needs of each individual. 

Gardening
Employing our own full time Gardener, who tends to all functions required within all our care homes gardens and patio areas, provides an aesthetically pleasing scenic look to our outdoor facilities for all our service users. In addition this, he is also on hand if any of the service users would like to try some gardening of their own; this can be a very therapeutic pastime for all concerned.

Hair & Beauty
All our care homes have the provision of a qualified hairdresser and beauty therapist available for both male and female service users. Appointments can be made via reception or the salon.

Activities
Portland prides itself on its activities. We employ an activities co-ordinator in each unit, overseen by an activity supervisor who guarantees each service user receives interaction and social inclusion. Our in house lending library has many mobility and recogonition packs which help our clients with memories of yester year and fun games for single or group enjoyment. The Portland Group Transport division provides a safe and reliable in house services to all.

Entertainment
We encourage a full calendar of entertainment for the service user with a variety of professional entertainers on a regular basis. Seasonal functions are on the forefront of our calendar.

Recreation/Shopping trips
Activities are seen as an important part of the lives of our service users and our co-ordinators arrange daily, weekly or monthly outings these include: trips to a shopping centre, the cinema and local beauty spots. Holidays and weekends away can also be arranged. We also have a library service available to all service users.

Special Occasions
At Portland we pride ourselves on celebrating all kinds of special occasions with our service users, with seasonal parties like Easter & Christmas.

Easter is celebrated by egg decorating, making Easter bonnets and holding raffles, a special Easter tea is organised for the service users.

All service users receive a special gift at Christmas.

All service users birthdays are celebrated with a variety of options available to them i.e. cake, flowers or wine as per the choice of the service user.

Fathers Day & Mothers Day are celebrated and all service users receive a card.

Religion
All religious denominations are welcome. Service users are encouraged to attend services at their own place of worship. Staff will arrange for the appropriate religious organisation to be contacted and arrangements made on an individual basis.
